(1/2021) Carine and Franck Richard farm the 45-year-old certified organic vines of Chateau Godard the old way, with an emphasis on biodiversity. They make their wines by instinct, without a consulting oenologist. After over twenty years at the helm, their efforts and experience really shine through. This extroverted and powerful blend of 65% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc and 5% Malbec sees no new oak. Heaping in black plum, blackberry, cherry and dark saline-infused mineral flavors, it is weighty and intense, and it is already drinking great. Try pairing it with filet or garlicky pork chops.
