(12/2022) Run by brothers Teddy and Cyprien Crochet, this fifth-generation estate in the Sancerre hamlet of Bue is making some very exciting stuff. This is their richest and most complex, a 100% Sauvignon Blanc from "La Cote" vineyard, a very steep site featuring chalky-clay soils and hand-tended, organically farmed vines up to 70 years in age. Fermented using wild yeasts, it was raised in 600-liter demi-muids barrels, some of which were new. Full in flavor, with rare new oak tones, this 2019 Sancerre shows a luxurious robe, ripe orchard and citrus fruits, and classic Sancerre chalk. Plump, layered and complex, it boasts discreet, mouthwatering acidity and a crazy long finish. Absolutely delicious!
