(9/2023) Pouring an opaque ruby-purple color, the 2021 Leviathan explodes from the glass with soul-warming aromas of black raspberry, currant, and spiced cherry fruits. There's a velvety texture that overlays soft tannins. With a bit of air, the indulgent fruit flavors are complemented with notes of fig, black licorice, cigar box, cocoa nibs, tobacco and wood spice. The overall experience is lush, elegant and seamless. When it comes to holiday parties and gift-giving, this one is tops. Lovers of big, silky California reds are going to jump on it by the case, and for good reason.
