(6/5/2018) "The 2016 Syrah Soberanes Vineyard got a "wow" in my notes and offers a rich, medium to full-bodied, layered style that just begs to be drunk. With lots of dark berry fruits, spice, and assort meaty/bacon fat-like characteristics, as well as polished tannin and a great finish, it bears more than a passing resemblance to a great Cote Rotie. Drink it anytime over the coming 8-10 years."

(10/2018) "Bright violet. A hugely perfumed bouquet evokes ripe black and blue fruits, olive paste, smoky bacon and pungent flowers, and a bright mineral flourish adds vivacity. Stains the palate with sweet blueberry, cassis and violet pastille flavors braced by a spine of juicy acidity. Shows outstanding clarity and spicy thrust on the youthfully tannic, impressively long finish, which leaves a sappy dark berry note behind. Drinking Window: 2022 - 2029"
